Notes : 20 ILS, 50 ILS, 100 ILS, 200 ILS
Coins : ½ ILS, 1 ILS, 5 ILS and 10 ILS, and 1, 10 and 50 agorot.
The obverse of the banknotes features an important figure from Israeli history and a representation of an event with which the person is associated.
The shekel was introduced in 1985, replacing the old shekel.
