Australia
With its genuinely pleasant and laid-back lifestyle, Australians are accustomed to paying with both cash and plastic virtually everywhere. While hotels and restaurants don't add any service charges to your bills, tipping is generally not necessary here. That said, in upscale restaurants it's common to tip your waiter or waitress 10% of the bill if service has been good. Credit cards and bank cards widely accepted in most places around Australia but it's recommended to have cash in hand when arriving since many small cafes and shops do require a minimum charge on a credit or bank card, typically $15-$20.
TIP: Renting a car here with cash? Expect your car rental agency to require a deposit here of a few hundred dollars.
